THE WAY OF THE CROSS TO REST IN GOD
The way of the cross can be likened to a journey with many happenings and events along the way, many of which we are often unaware. Their potential for our spiritual growth is beyond imagination. We dismiss, rationalize, explain, justify and defend these of being no value, often referred to as fate
We are unaware that the decision to no longer control our lives is just the beginning and until we are well on the way do we realize how double minded we are. We hand over with one hand and take back with the other.
A NEW LIFE BEGINS
We are no longer the controller of our destiny, but often continue to hold the reigns. We go along with our emotions, behaviour, attitudes, blindly allowing ourselves the rights we assume we are still entitled to; QUE SERA, SERA, what ever will be will be.
Now we have a choice and find we have new ways of viewing life. There begins a minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day dying to the old ways of thinking, talking and behaving. If this is not your experience then I doubt the journey has begun.
The wide road becomes increasingly narrow and hazardous. The actions, thoughts and behaviours once acted upon without thought or consideration will cause a discomfort if heeded and carried out. This is as it should be. You are on the road to the Cross.
This narrow road may seem very confining, many turns, at times taking the wrong direction and having to return to where we strayed from the path, strewn with prickles, thorns, stones and more often than not, large boulders. These will present themselves through our relationships, financial difficulties, health problems, deaths of our loved ones, the state of the world, loneliness, rejection and feeling abandoned to name but a few.
We desire help with our difficulties, more often than not seeking the world and all it has to offer to ease our momentary afflictions. Until we at last come to understand these things came for our benefit. They were the signposts to lead us to the place of relinquishment, to the foot of the Cross, to the very place we began our journey. We have come full circle and when at last we lay the burdens down, we know the Cross is our place of rest. If only we would learn to stay, lay and never leave we would know the power of this resting place.
When we cease meddling with everything and not keep things between our hands we will know the rest of God. God only performs on that which does not resist Him. LACK OF RESISTANCE LEADS TO REST.Not a passive giving up, but a decisive giving in to His ability to work all things together for our good.
THIS IS THE WORK OF THE CROSS. THE DEATH OF OUR STRIVING WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO THE RESURRECTION OF HIS LIFE WITHIN. JESUS CHRIST DID NOT RESIST THE CROSS. A CONTINUAL VOICING OF THE WORD OF THE CROSS, UTTERED IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE.
"FATHER , IF THOU WILL, TAKE THIS CUP FROM ME, NEVERTHELESS NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE" ,THIS CRY FOR MERCY, THE FATHER DELIGHTS TO ANSWER.
THE DIVIDING WORK OF THE CROSS
God set His heart for the universe He created to be ruled by His Son. The rule of the old creation was made null and void by the death of His Son on the Cross. The first system is finished. The new creation is the Kingdom world. Nothing old can be in the new. Education, cultural, religious or denominational background has no place in the world of the Kingdom. They are not good or bad but they are flesh and not Spirit.Col 1:13
NEW CREATURES, NEW NATURE, NEW FACULTIES, NEW KINGDOM, NEW WORLD.THEN HE WHO SAT ON THE THRONE SAID "BEHOLD I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.' AND HE SAID TO ME." WRITE, FOR THESE WORDS ARE TRUE AND FAITHFUL." Rev. 21:5
The Cross ends the old: Resurrection starts the new.Baptism=death and resurrectionBeing baptised does not necessarily mean we are dead. Cannot bury what is not dead. ARE YOU REALLY DEAD OR HAVE YOU BEEN BURIED ALIVE? ARE YOU STILL IN THE TOMB AWAITING YOUR SPIRITUAL RESURRECTION? HAVE YOU WALKED OUT OF YOUR GRAVECLOTHES?Have you accepted the death AND resurrection sides of the Cross?
Unless we accept the finished work of the Cross we will present the old natural Adam ways, instincts, wisdom and strengths for His use.RESURRECTION IS THE SOURCE OF OUR LIFE, in fact all belongs to Him, the Lord Jesus Christ, therefore we have no need to present what already belongs to Him.
Without the Cross experience there is nothing to give. Death to the old cuts off all that cannot be consecrated, resurrection make consecration possible. We cannot consecrate to Him our Adamic nature. Only that which has been resurrected can we present. Our resurrection life belongs to Him.Many attempt to consecrate their uncrucified, natural life. Consecration to God is not for Christian work, it is choosing to walk the path He has chosen that we may use for His purposes those things that now have His life as their power.
He will take what we offer, break it, bless it and give it to others. He took the loaves and broke them into fragments that others may be fed. He will make us into broken bread and poured out wine.
The ravishing( to carry off, to enrapture) the Soul, the secret of self abandonment is in the dying, not the doing; the utter helplessness of the flesh. The breaking of self brings the infilling for power
Buried seed ( the Word) conceived in the womb of prayer:
1. A quiet time 2. A secret time
The Lord confines many as a woman who is in confinement waits for the birth of her child. This is the work of the church, in fact the woman is the church. That which is to be birthed in due time is in need of nurture, spiritual nourishment, rest and spiritual exercise.
3. Life in earthern vessels, broken open, Christ to come forth, as out of the innermost being, the breaking forth of waters from the fountain within, placed there by the words He spoke. Out of your belly will flow rivers of living water to a dry and thirsty land. THE DRY BONES WILL LIVE to become an exceeingly great army. Eze. 37 This is the glorious secret.
